Educational and Developmental Psychologist

Hi! My name is Amelia.
I am a psychologist and Mom to two. At PsychNextDoor, I hope to create a nurturing haven for families, aiming to empower you with the confidence and tools to navigate the challenges that often accompany child development, behavioural issues and mental health.
I understand that every family is unique, shaped by their distinct qualities and experiences. Yet, every caregiver plays a pivotal role in nurturing a child's well-being and creating an environment for them to flourish. That's why I'm not just here for children; I'm here for parents too. I'm here to help you understand your child's needs and strengthen the bonds that connect you.
My approach is grounded in neuroscience-backed, evidence-based strategies rooted in attachment and behavioural theories. I hope to provide families with individualised support focusing on strengths that are already in place. At PsychNextDoor, I aim to break down the walls of formalities and stigma in seeking support and instead provide a non-judgmental, strength-focused space.
I graduated from Queensland University of Technology (Australia) with a Masters in Educational and Developmental Psychology. I am registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
With over 10 years of experience, I have received training and facilitated the Circle of Security (Intensive) early intervention group program for parents. I am also a trained facilitator for the Resourceful Adolescent Program (RAP), aimed at building resiliency and coping skills. I have conducted various social skills group programs for both children and adolescents.
Apart from providing therapy, I have conducted and written reports for several cognitive and academic assessments for both local and international clients across the lifespan, providing diagnosis for targeted intervention. I hold experience in a range of settings in Australia, including a health clinic, community organisation and mainstream schools. In Singapore, I have previously worked as an educator in an autism-focused school, providing academic, socio-emotional and behavioural support to primary-aged children. I have also worked in a private practice where I planned and supervised intervention programmes, working closely with a team of behaviour therapists.
In addition to my professional development, I also hold a Certificate in Autism and am trained in using various treatment models (CBT, ABA, etc). I believe that as each individual has different needs, the therapeutic approach should be tailored accordingly.
