Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How do I know if my child needs therapy?
    It’s completely normal to wonder if what your child is going through is “just a phase” or something that needs extra support.
    You might consider therapy if your child:
    • Seems more anxious, angry, or withdrawn than usual
    • Struggles with friendships, school, or routines
    • Has difficulty coping with changes, big emotions, or family transitions
    • Talks about feeling “bad,” “stupid,” or “not good enough”
    • Is having trouble sleeping, eating, or focusing
    • Often gets overwhelmed or frustrated, even over small things
    • Has been through something stressful or traumatic

    Therapy can help even if there’s no diagnosis — sometimes kids just need a safe space to sort through big feelings or build coping tools. If you’re unsure, you’re welcome to reach out for an intake session. We’ll explore together whether support is needed and what kind might be most helpful.

  1. Does my child need a diagnosis to receive therapy?
    No — your child does not need a diagnosis to start therapy.
    Therapy can support children in many ways, from building confidence and emotional skills to coping with school stress, family changes, or social challenges. Some children come with a formal diagnosis (like ADHD or anxiety), but many don’t. We focus on your child’s unique needs, not just labels.
    If you're concerned or simply curious, therapy can be a helpful space to explore what’s going on and how to support your child — with or without a diagnosis.
  1. Do you work with children with severe mental health conditions or suicidal ideation?
    We are not an emergency service.
    Our services are available by appointment only during specific hours. We are not equipped to manage medical or psychiatric emergencies.
    If your child is in immediate distress or requires urgent support, please seek help at a 24-hour A&E department, such as the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), or contact one of the following crisis helplines:
    • National Mindline: 1771 / +65-6669-1771
    • Samaritans of Singapore (SOS): 1767
    • Institute of Mental Health Helpline: 6389 2222
    Your child’s safety and well-being are the priority. Please reach out to these services if immediate support is needed.
  1. What age range do you work with?
    We typically work with children and teens aged 4 to 16 years old.
    Therapy sessions are adapted to each child’s developmental stage — whether through play, creative expression, or more structured conversations for older children and teens.
    Parent involvement is an important part of the process. We regularly meet with with parents or caregivers to share insights, offer guidance, and work together to support your child’s progress at home and in daily life. In some cases, sessions may focus solely on parent support or strategies, especially for younger children.
    If your child is slightly outside this age range, or if you’re primarily seeking parent consultation, feel free to reach out — we'd be happy to discuss whether it’s a good fit.
  1. What is the duration of each session?
    Each therapy session typically lasts 50 minutes.

    For younger children (especially under 6), shorter sessions of 30–40 minutes may be more appropriate, depending on their attention and comfort level. Parent check-ins or feedback may be included at the end or scheduled separately.

    Assessment sessions may vary in length, depending on the type of assessment — some may be broken into multiple blocks over a few days to help your child stay focused and comfortable.

  1. How long will my child need therapy?
    There’s no one-size-fits-all answer — the length of therapy really depends on your child’s unique needs, goals, and pace of progress.

    Some children benefit from short-term support over a few months to work through a specific challenge, while others may need longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns or build lasting emotional skills.

    We’ll regularly check in together — with both you and your child — to review progress and adjust the plan as needed. The goal is always to support your child in becoming more confident, resilient, and equipped to manage on their own when they’re ready.

    You’re not signing up for “forever therapy” — just the right support, for the right season.

  1. Why do you have a cancellation policy?
    A commitment to our time together is essential for meeting your therapy goals. Cancellations are a loss to yourself or your child, another client on waiting for an available slot, and the psychologist's time to prepare for your session.

    If you are unable to make a scheduled appointment, please reschedule at least 48 hours in advance so that another client may utilise your allotted time. We understand that life can be unpredictable. You will have a waiver for the first last-minute cancellation or missed appointment, after which any subsequent cancellations or missed appointment will incur a fee as listed below:

    Reschedule Requests or Cancellation

    > within 24 hours of scheduled appointment : 100% of session fee charged;

    > between 24 and 48 hours of scheduled appointment : 50% of session fee charged;

    > more than 48 hours notice : no charge;

    > medical or other emergency : waived on case-by-case basis, medical certificate may be requested.

  1. Will my child's therapy or assessment results be shared with their school or other providers?
    Your child’s information is kept strictly confidential. We will never share therapy notes, assessment results, or any personal information with schools or other professionals unless you have provided consent.
    That said, collaboration can be very helpful — especially when working with teachers, learning support staff, or other specialists. If you’d like us to liaise with your child’s school or care team, we’ll discuss what’s appropriate to share and make sure you're comfortable with it every step of the way.
    Your trust is important, and we respect your family’s privacy.
  1. What are your payment modes?
    We accept payment via PayNow or bank transfer. An invoice would be provided after each session and payment to be made within 24 hours.
